New Battery Just Need Some Seconds for Charging
Friday, July 8, 2011 // back to top?
The engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a batterythat can be recharged in just a second number. With this type of battery, no need batterycharging for hours, until the user actually frequent forgetfulness.
According Gerbrand Ceder, professor of materials science and engineering from MIT,the material used batteries are not new materials. However, with simple modifications,he found these batteries.
Batteries made from almost the same as the widely circulated today, Lithium battery.Li-Ion is capable of storing huge amounts of energy. The disadvantage, Li-Ion batteriesare very slow to load and distribute electricity back.
on the one hand, this makes it have a life and a long survival. But on the other hand, the technology is difficult to apply to applications that require the speed of an electric charge and refilled. To obtain a charging battery that can be quickly, Ceder make fast track channel or tunnel in the battery. the tunnel will accelerate the transfer of electrical energy through the material lithium iron phosphate. "Our calculations, showed that the material actually Lithium Ion battery can move quickly through the tunnel," said Ceder, through the release quoted by the site TGDaily. With this new technique, a battery will be able to fill out and filled in just 10-20 seconds.Amazingly, unlike Li-Ion batteries usually degraded every time he charged back, the battery is not degraded. Therefore, the surface structure of this battery has been modified. As a result, even this age of battery, will last longer. These batteries will also be lighter than regular batteries, because it will only use less material to generate the same amount of electrical charge. These batteries are also safer, because the lithium iron phosphate will not be prone to overheating, as was the case in many laptop batteries and other gadgets. The ability of a fast charging electric charge, making this battery is suitable for automotive applications. With this technology he can fill out an electric-powered vehicles with a speed of not less than refueling a conventional gasoline vehicle. Now, Ceder has made prototypes of this battery. Some companies have been attracted by this new technology. However Ceder estimates this new product could be marketed between 2-3 years into the future.
Build Island with 100 Thousand Plastic Bottles
// back to top?
Metrogaya-turns out to have an island does not need a lot of money! Enough has 100,000 plastic bottles, like the eco-pioneer Richard Sowa.
Earlier, in 1998, Richard built Spiral Island using 250,000 plastic bottles near PuertoAventuras. Unfortunately the island is made of thousands of plastic bottles weredestroyed by Hurricane Emily in 2005.
Richard did not immediately discouraged, this time he built the Spiral Island II in a safer place. With the help of many volunteers, he built the two islands with fewer bottles. ForSpiral Island II, Richard uses only 100,000 plastic bottles.
Above the island diameter of 20 meters was built homes, beaches and waterfalls areusing solar energy. Because it uses recycled materials, this island must alsoenvironmentally friendly. But many also worry that Spiral Island II was hit by anotherstorm, the author must have the materials will contaminate the Atlantic. Hopefully thisplastic island spared from the storm again.
